TULYA MADRA
Tulya Madra, founder of Santimetre, is a designer and a ceramist, currently based in Ayvalik, Turkey. Initially a furniture and interior designer, she became more and more immersed in ceramics over the past years, and porcelain became her preferred medium. Believes in the miracles of daily life in the studio.

THE PROCESS
the raw forms once dry and out of the molds are fettled and sponged and ready for the initial 24 hr biscuit firing at 970 c. once biscuit fired the wares then are wet sanded, washed dried to be ready for glazing. we glaze the interiors first and let them dry for a day and and handpaint and glaze the exteriors the next day. the glazing fire at 1230 c lasts for another 24 hours. depending on the design sometimes the pieces are glaze fired more than once. thus it is a very labour intensive and slow process which needs immaculate attention to a huge variety of details. welcome to our studio !
